Important for what? Show me one Sikh scholar who isn't obsessed about his own legacy and I'll eat my own words. Our community should focus on doing seva to our fellow human beings, not take sides in haumai-increasing arguments among scholars who nitpick over historical details that no one really cares about in the end. Those of you who argue on their behalf should know better, too. Sikh scholars need to be humanitarians, not just bookish folks who keep talking about how important their work is. Important for what? Congratulations! Dr.Mann for your perseverence & hard work to establish respectability for Sikh & Punjabi studies in academic circles of USA.
