CATALOGUE NOTE — Gouache heightened with gold on paper, depicting a Sikh man in black carrying a large tulwar and with a black turban with a chakram, possibly a Nihangi together with his female companion dressed in a gold-embroidered floral sari, behind them white stone buildings with a wide blue horizon, inscription on the mount in a 19th century hand, mounted on card. Folio 16 x 11¼in. (40.5 x 28.5cm.)

CATALOGUE NOTE — Gouache on ivory, comprising twenty-five oval miniature portraits of Sikh rulers, a King of Delhi, and two wives of a Nawab of Lucknow, all mounted within rope surrounds on a brown velvet ground, identification inscriptions on ivory cartouches beneath the miniatures, glazed and framed, accompanied by a series of fourteen separately framed small miniature portraits of monunments also on ivory, and an original list of the miniatures on paper watermarked 1847. The figural group 22 7/8 x 9½in. (58.2 x 24.2cm.); the monuments 10¾ x 12¼in. (26 x 31cm.)
